Transfer release ‘Losing Composure’ on July 18th

San Diego band TRANSFER will release the first single from their debut album, Losing Composure, on July 18th. Recently signed to Cool Green Records following hotly-received UK, US and European shows with Brandon Flowers and White Lies, the group will return to the UK this summer for live dates in support of the single and ahead of the release of their phenomenal debut album Future Selves, this September.

Already making a big name for themselves Stateside, with recent excursions seeing the band impress at the influential Sunset Sessions and with a residency at Las Vegas’ Cosmopolitan Hotel, TRANSFER’s return to the UK this summer will take in high profile festival shows in Hyde Park (with The Killers), at Hop Farm and T In The Park, club shows, and their UK TV debut with a performance on Live From Abbey Road.

Taking inspiration from the likes of the Gogol Bordello, Leonard Cohen and The Magnetic Fields, the first release from Sweet Sweet Lies – ‘Capital of Iceland’ – will take you on a journey of second love, balmy summer evenings that never seem to end and characters that turns your world upside down.

Lead singer Dominic Von Trapps engaging voice narrates an upbeat tale of a girl that plays guitar and knows the Capital of Iceland, but scratch the surface and we discover a darker tale of love lost and discovering a better lover. The melodic choruses and bluegrass influences rouse the soul – songs like these make you want to dance with your friends all night long. What stands out about Sweet Sweet Lies is the stark contrast between the harmony-laden acoustic warmth of the music and the blood, guts and bitter truths of the lyrics, leading to comparisons with Ray Davies and the dark drama of Nick Cave’s tales. This band is one of the most exciting acts for 2011…

Goodluck Jonathan release debut album ‘This Is Our Way Out’ on July 11th

Goodluck Jonathan’s set-up echoes most brilliant bands throughout history. A collective of five very different individuals gelled together by a mutual love and serious appreciation of music and a less serious though equally passionate love of rum, mocking the percussion section, and annoying the Nigerian President by misdirecting his Twitter traffic to their profile (plus other unmentionable exploits expected of a band their age). Their musical influences and loves run the spectrum of genres: from melodic indie to dance to rock, the latter mainly championed by the drum and bass fraternity, “(Goodluck Jonathan) claim that the world “needs a soundtrack…with fucking big drums.” And we couldn’t agree more”. – NME.

Boycom sound hits the airwaves

BOY COM bring the big band experience to a post-urban generation. Describing themselves as “kick ass party hip hop”, the 9-piece (whose name is short for ‘Boy Communication’) make the perfect soundtrack to any debaucherous house-party.

Boasting the phattest beats, the smoothest bass lines, the raunchiest brass and the silkiest choruses, BOY COM are the stylish live eargasm that the alternative UK Hip-Hop scene has been waiting for. BOY COM is the wildchild of half American, half Belgian, dejay, producer and emcee Noah Sacré, whose distinctive half-sung drawl decorates an architecture of 60s soul, 70s funk and 80s hip hop with mischievous 90s fraternity-raps.
