‘Enough Time’ is the first offering from dreamy synth-pop collective The Ghosts, and offers a tantalising glimpse of what is to come from their heartfelt debut album. Wavering between melancholy and romanticism, vocalist Alex Starling’s delicate falsetto musings drag you upwards whilst soaring unsettlingly over nostalgic soundscapes. Seductive melodies, memorable hooks and ethereal vocals combine for a compelling result.

The video is directed by Alex Kyrou and can be seen below

Portico Quartet still sound like nothing you ever heard before. The Mercury nominated East London based outfit’s unique music has expanded to embrace new sonic territories. Drawing on the inspiration of electronica, ambient, classical and dance music as they take their strange, beautiful, cinematic, future music to exciting new vistas where the inspiration of Burial, Mount Kimbie and Flying Lotus rubs shoulders with the textures of Arve Henriksen and Bon Iver and echoes of Steve Reich and Max Richter. But all underpinned by a shared joy in collective music making as the band push their inimitable music into the future.

The Face of Mount Molehill is the magnificent new album from the Neil Cowley Trio. Following on from the trio’s critically-acclaimed 2010 release, Radio Silence, this new recording looks set to launch the music of Neil Cowley yet further into the listening public’s consciousness.

Nourishing his fondness for grand, commanding sounds, Cowley has begun a love affair with orchestration. Having spent the past year writing and arranging specifically for his trio and strings, he records, for the first time ever, with a string ensemble.

The music is expansive, dynamic and deeply engaging. With the addition of soundscape textures from guitarist Leo Abrahams, (renowned for his collaborative work with Brian Eno) the Face of Mount Molehill represents a substantial shift in direction. Comprising 12 original tracks, the album takes the listener on an exciting musical journey from pomp and splendour to poignant, lyrical episodes; from sprightly and whimsical to powerful, rhythmic melodies.

West London’s cult alt-indie four piece Tellison release their new single ‘Edith’ on 10th October through Naim Edge Records, the second from this summer’s much loved new, Peter Miles (The King Blues, Frank Turner, We Are The Ocean) produced album ‘The Wages Of Fear’.

‘Edith’ is the quintessence of Tellison’s charming capability to candidly express contemporary anguish through classic inspirations. Front man and guitarist Stephen Davidson explains the meaning behind the new single; “Edith Wharton writes a mean story. Her writing, though not particularly fashionable today, earned her a Pulitzer prize in 1921 and the deep devotion of countless readers the world over. In other words she knows where it's at. The Pulitzer was awarded to her novel "The Age Of Innocence". I read that book in a small attic room in Cambridge in 2008 and immediately afterwards wrote a song. The song's title namechecks Edith herself whilst its lyrics reference a few of her literary inventions. There's also some stuff about real life not being as compelling, powerful, ordered, dramatic or satisfying as fiction (particularly hers) in there too.”

Billy Vincent are set to release their new EP, ‘Once On The Grand Union’ through Something Nothing Records on October 17th – another set of zealous tracks that showcase a seamless progression from the rousing compositions of previous EP, ‘King Island Coyote’.

Fronted by long time compatriots and best friends, Billy Barratt and David Vincent, the band have crafted a collection of songs that are as lyrically stimulating as they are musically.

From the sinister tale of ‘St. Catherine’s Oratory’ and its relentless chant of “looking for the monsters from under my bed”, through to the sprightly feel good message of ‘Through Stations For Trains’, Billy Vincent demonstrate a flair for creating diverse numbers, yet still keeping their own inimitable style and sound.

The latter half of ‘Once On The Grand Union’ sees the band unveil their softer side with a yarn of torturous love with ‘Young Hearts’, a side that stands out against the infectiously jaunty ‘Truly’ and its rousing sing-along chorus.

Empirical, winners of Best Jazz Act at the MOBO’s 2010, return with their third album ‘Elements Of Truth’ on October 24th on Naim Jazz Records.

Empirical should really need no introduction. The project of four young, British Jazz musicians, who aim to expand on the traditions of Jazz, their unique music manages to be both timeless and totally now, inside and out. In just a few short years they have carved out a place as one of jazz’s most exciting new bands, touring from New York to Molde, London to Montreal, and they have won numerous awards including the 2010 MOBO for Best Jazz Act and Jazzwise and Mojo Albums of the Year. Elements Of Truth is their third album, and second with the current line-up of Nathaniel Facey alto saxophone, Shaney Forbes drums, Tom Farmer bass and Lewis Wright vibraphone.

Manchester guitarist and composer Stuart McCallum is best known for his work with Cinematic Orchestra. The distinctive, ethereal and atmospheric sound of his guitar has been at the heart of their sound since 2004, including on the albums 'Ma Fleur' and 'Live At The Royal Albert Hall' and the award winning soundtrack ‘The Crimson Wing’. His own music influenced by jazz and DJ Culture is a distillation of many influences, creating a sound that is concentrated and distinctive. McCallum who admits to influences from Wes Montgomery to Bjork, Flying Lotus to Bon Iver and James Blake to Bill Frisell, as well as modern art, eschews over complicated harmonic and rhythmical structures in favour of a rich mix of electronica and improvisation enriched by elegant orchestral writing.
