Mirrorkicks release their new video for their fourth single, ‘On TV’; the explosive and brash intro to their recent debut album ‘Mirrorkicks’, which came out on their own label, Fruit Pie Records, in spring.
The promo video marks a new height on the already high bar of exciting and intriguing videos that the band has released with each of their singles. It all began, prior to any official releases, with the sneaking out of the band’s entirely self made video to the album track ‘Lego’, featuring a stop-motion animated adventure of the band in a Lego city!

Mirrorkicks are a new electrifying force, who have channelled their body-quivering live energy into record format with the release of their debut single, ‘Turning Up’, out on 28 September.

‘Turning Up’ is a deliciously captivating anthemic slice of indie/rock. Driving audiences into uncontrollable frenzy during live gigs, it was the obvious choice as a debut single for the band. With an addictively-catchy sing-along vibe, the melody is instantly unforgettable, however, the lyrics explore a murky darker side as they delve into the mysterious realms of mental illness, drug induced paranoia and religion.

The Mirrorkicks are pure home-grown musical talent from South London. Band members, Gerard De Waal and Edwin Pereira, met with brothers, Ingmar and Anil Kamalagharan, whilst at secondary school in Streatham. Following a period of musical experimentation, which saw Anil performing and recording with Imogen Heap and Ingmar, whilst Edwin and Gerard supported Razorlight at their 2006 Album launch, the boys’ passion for indie/rock couldn’t be ignored and they formally cemented their relationship with the formation of Mirrorkicks in late 2008.

Recording and producing tracks themselves in the basement studio, which was built by Anil and Ingmar with their brothers Kumar and Nimar, the band sparked a chemistry which resulted in a collection of album classics. The final mastering polish to the self titled album, which is set for release early next year, was provided by Macc in between working with Wu Tang Clan and Aphex Twin, and is a sensational reflection of the Mirrorkicks’ live energy in record format.

But it’s the Mirrorkicks’ on-stage presence that’s created eruptions of mammoth proportions, as their regular gigging on the London scene (including Water Rats, Barfly, 93Ft East, Borderline, 333 Mother Bar, Dublin Castle etc) has attracted the discerning ear of celebrities such as James Nesbitt.

Despite being a brand new and fresh act, Mirrorkicks have already caught the attention of Scott Mills (Radio 1), following a 3 day winning streak on BBC’s Upstaged, and BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson, plus several reviews in local and student publications. The band have also been inundated with global gig invites, including the SXSW 2009 in Austin, Texas.

Now, Mirrorkicks are set to ignite the UK music scene with their sensational debut single, ‘Turning Up’. Mighty, anthemic and so addictive that it should come with a warning, you’ll literally be clambering to turn up the volume button from the moment you hear it!

‘Turning Up’ is released on September 28 on Fruit Pie Records
