Tellison to release Edith on October 10th and autumn tour dates

West London’s cult alt-indie four piece Tellison release their new single ‘Edith’ on 10th October through Naim Edge Records, the second from this summer’s much loved new, Peter Miles (The King Blues, Frank Turner, We Are The Ocean) produced album ‘The Wages Of Fear’.

‘Edith’ is the quintessence of Tellison’s charming capability to candidly express contemporary anguish through classic inspirations. Front man and guitarist Stephen Davidson explains the meaning behind the new single; “Edith Wharton writes a mean story. Her writing, though not particularly fashionable today, earned her a Pulitzer prize in 1921 and the deep devotion of countless readers the world over. In other words she knows where it’s at. The Pulitzer was awarded to her novel “The Age Of Innocence”. I read that book in a small attic room in Cambridge in 2008 and immediately afterwards wrote a song. The song’s title namechecks Edith herself whilst its lyrics reference a few of her literary inventions. There’s also some stuff about real life not being as compelling, powerful, ordered, dramatic or satisfying as fiction (particularly hers) in there too.”

Oxbridge indie-rockers Tellison have always had an unabashed passion for remix culture. Their 2007 debut album Contact!Contact! was succeeded by Contact!Contact! Remixed, featuring a host of far-flung favours from contemporaries such as Dave House, MaybeSheWill, Ginface and Elastik!. More recently Rolo Tomassi and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly have offered remixes for previous single ‘Collarbone’ and current single ‘Say Silence (Heaven & Earth)’.

Tellison are now encouraging both fans and newcomers to their literary brand of alt-indie to enter the Remix Tellison competition. First prize includes a Pro SoundCloud account worth over £200 (courtesy of SoundCloud.com), Tellison goodies, the new record on every format imaginable and gig tickets.

The first single ‘Say Silence (Heaven & Earth)’ will be released just a week before, June 5th.
